Website woes?

I’ll start by saying that in the big picture, I think coaches should have websites (even if only to build their email lists, which is very important).

But …

I see a lot of them getting too worked up about their sites, and getting bogged down by launching one.

It’s not uncommon for new coaches to be pulling the hair out of their heads for months over their websites.

Maybe they hired the wrong web designer (or two, or three), or they’re on a budget and going the DIY-route.

Either way, it eats up precious time and energy that could be spent talking to potential clients and customers.

A few of my thoughts on websites:

1) You don’t have to have a top-notch website that rivals the #1 person in your industry. Too many newer coaches are comparing theirs to the top dogs who have been at it for a decade (or decades).

My first website wasn’t that hot (not blaming my web guy, I just didn’t have the budget to go all out). I revamped it in 2016, when I was able to pay a lot more for one. You’ll have plenty of time to upgrade yours when your business is going good.

2) You don’t need a website that has 100 different options for visitors to choose from. If your primarily goal is to build an email list or sell one offering, go with something like Leadpages (it’s costs around 40 bucks a month, and has tons of easy-to-use templates). I use Leadpages to sell my group coaching program and it works really well.

3) I have a nifty little trick that I’ve used with a few of my clients who were stuck on their websites, and it cost them just $10 and a few minutes of their time.
