As I speak with coaches about starting up their own group programs, they’re often hesitant about taking the plunge.
Group programs require a leap of faith …
It reminds me of a scene with an invisible bridge in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
To save his father’s life, Indiana has to get across a deep chasm that apparently has no bridge. Armed with a journal that shows a man walking on air, and with the instructions “Only in the leap from the lion’s head will he prove his worth”, the hero has to decide whether to take that first step when he can’t see anything underneath.
I won’t spoil that scene (you can find it on YouTube), but stepping into the air took a leap of faith by Indy.
The same thing goes with group programs, but I’ve yet to meet a coach who has regretted running one!
