HELPING COACHES GET MORE CLIENTS SINCE 2014!

You don’t have to bleed on the page

Here’s something that I pulled from a book that I once read about George Lucas:

Lucas isn’t known for his writing (if you heard the dialogue in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, you can tell that it’s not his strong suit).

Lucas is better at editing, and enjoys that much more than writing scripts.

But since Star Wars was his universe until he sold it to Disney in 2012 (for a cool $4 billion), he had to do a lot of writing for it.

When he was preparing for one of the films (“Return of the Jedi”, I believe), he had a tough time writing the script. Of the writing process for the film, he said:

“When I sit down, I bleed on the page, and it’s just awful”

Every day, Lucas would go upstairs to his home office, and literally force himself to sit at his desk with a pad of paper and a pencil from early morning until 6 pm.

Whether he got any writing done or not, he stayed there.

He admitted that many days he couldn’t get any words onto the page, and he spent most of the time playing with his beard.

That’s how painful writing was for him.

You can’t argue about the success that Lucas had with Star Wars. But for coaches, it’s important to do what you enjoy doing.

If you have to force yourself to do something that you hate, you’re swimming upstream and you won’t get the results that you want.

If you don’t enjoy writing, I wouldn’t recommend locking yourself into your office all day and bleeding on the page.

It’s better to find out what you actually enjoy doing (ie: shooting videos) and go with the flow.

When you enjoy doing something, it doesn’t feel like work and you can happily fly through it.

Life’s too short to do something that you hate, and it’s a bad business strategy anyways.

If you’re ready to do stuff you love doing, my “10 Clients In 90 Days” program can help.

I teach a bunch of client-getting strategies during our 12 weeks together, and you can choose to do those that you actually want to.

The next group starts in a few weeks, and there’s a spot open for you:
