Why You Should Be A Dictator

There’s been a lot of talk about dictators lately, especially after Donald Trump tweeted that he believes he has the right to pardon himself if he ever wanted to.

The Internet exploded with screams of “Dictator!”

Regardless of whether you agree with Trump on Presidential pardons or not, I’d like to see more coaches behaving like dictators when it comes to their businesses.

You should be absolutely ruthless with things like:

– how much you charge for your coaching
– who you accept as clients
– what boundaries you demand from those doing business with you

This means that you set your fees and you don’t mess around with hagglers and price shoppers (gladly offer to refer them to a competitor that you don’t like)

It means that you decide who you’ll work with and move on from anyone who doesn’t match that (I have five criteria that I judge potential clients on)

It means that you don’t take flack off people who invade your boundaries and you evict them from your life (ie: those who show disrespect by demanding a call back within two minutes, or people who keep you waiting on Skype for 20 minutes after your agreed-upon meeting time).

It can be tough to put on your “dictator” hat, since the word has such a negative connotation. But once you do, you’ll feel empowered and have more energy to put into your business.

So act like you’re a dictator of your own little banana republic.

It’s your business, your rules …
