When you’re surrounded by good people, you get better results.
Consider the world of hockey:
Back in the 1980’s, Wayne Gretzky and the Edmonton Oilers were the team to beat. They won five Stanley Cups in the decade (including 1990), and the 1984/85 Oilers are widely considered to be the best team to ever hit the ice.
Gretzky was breaking all kinds of records then (they didn’t call him “The Great One” for nothing), but he wasn’t just hogging the puck and scoring all of the goals himself. He had a way of making the teammates on the ice with him better, and he racked up almost 2000 assists in his career.
(Heck, if I played on his line as a kid I would have scored 20 goals a season)
The same applies to who’s around you in baseball. If the batter hitting after you stinks, you won’t get any good pitches to hit because you aren’t “protected”. Or if a pitcher doesn’t have good fielders behind him, the other team will probably score a lot of runs.
In the online space, you want to be surrounded by a good team as well.
