What to do when your nut factory explodes

by | Sep 19, 2021 | Blog

When he was younger, I took my son to see the movie “The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature”.

At the beginning of the movie, the main characters (who are squirrels) are living the high life.

They’ve taken up residence in an abandoned nut factory, which is heaven on Earth for them.
It provides an unlimited supply of food, comfort, and security.

Rather than doing the hard work that most squirrels have to do to survive, these ones can have delicious nuts whenever they want, and they have so much food that they even host “all you can eat” contests in their factory.

It’s an embarrassment of riches.

But then things change.

There’s an explosion, and it’s bye-bye nut factory.

The squirrels’ sweet, easy life is no more. The furry friends have to venture to the outside world (in this case, the city park) and actually hunt for their food, plan for winter, and do all that hard stuff.

They got accustomed to the easy life, and they understandably didn’t want to switch.

Like those squirrels, a lot of coaches are looking for the easy life, too.

It’s not delicious nuts that they want, but rather leads and clients flowing magically to them so they’ll never have to go out and actually work hard for them.

While it’s an appealing thought, there are no magic leads or clients factories in Coachland.

If you want to make it, you’re going to have to go outside and rough it.

You have to show up every day and not be afraid to make offers (as Zig Ziglar once said; “Timid salesmen have skinny kids”)
