If you’ve followed me for awhile, you’ve probably heard me talk about “BBQ Pitches” for coaches.
Here’s what it is, in a nutshell:
Imagine you’re at a backyard BBQ, munching on a hot dog and talking to a fellow party-goer.
After dispensing of pleasantries like the weather/sports/your kids, the other person asks:
“So, what do you do?”
Your BBQ Pitch is your answer to this question. If should be a short (one or two sentences max) answer, not a 24 hour speech like the one that Jimmy Stewart gave in “Mr.Smith Goes To Washington”.
It should roll off the tongue easily. You can’t stumble with it (so drinking too many beers at the BBQ could hurt you).
Your BBQ Pitch needs to evoke curiosity. It should make the person interested in learning more. Then you can get into a deeper conversation about what you do.
Most importantly, your BBQ pitch needs to be clear. The other person should instantly “get” it.
For example, I know a coach who says “I help people make their first $10,000 online”. There’s not guessing here, and it sets him apart from coaches who say “I help people make money” or “I help people make money online”. It’s very clear that he’s targeting people who are new to Internet Marketing.
Do you have a killer BBQ Pitch?
If not, it’s something that Michael Griffiths and Referral Marketing Guru go over in the “Building Your Million Dollar Referral System” report.
