Last week, a Facebook friend posted a poll.
Shortly after he did it, one of his “friends” jumped in with this comment:

“I don’t even know why you post these types of “polls”. Seems like all you’ve wanted to do over the last few months is not actually have a debate, but just stir the pot. Keep this crap off Facebook”

My suggestion to the critic was to unfriend or unfollow him, since he doesn’t have control over what someone posts on their own social media and he’s obviously getting triggered by it.
I’ve noticed a shift with things since I started my online business in 2014 …
Back then, there wasn’t as many of those types of comments. Nowadays, more people feel like they have the right to dictate what another person posts on their own social media feed.
If something offends them, they suggest (or demand) that the person remove it instead of just scrolling past it and moving along with their day.
It’s led to a culture where people’s thumbs are quivering before they post anything, out of fear of offending someone.
I often post something that riles up a sensitive soul, and I don’t apologize for it (in most cases I unfriend them, for both of our sakes).
I remember James Altucher once saying that he doesn’t hit “publish” on a blog post unless he’s nervous to do it. If he’s not nervous, it means that he’s playing it too safe.
To be successful, you can’t worry about offending others.
