This sets the world record for the use of “hot seat” in one email

As I was planning for The Coaching Jungle Mastermind, I had to decide what the calls would look like.

I was especially concerned with how to handle the “hot seat” – the time where members’ businesses are focused on and discussed during the meetings.

There are lots of different ways to run masterminds, and I found that many have just one person on the hot seat per call. And once they’re done that time, they won’t be back on the hot seat for another couple of months as the rotation cycles back to them.

Personally this approach doesn’t sit right with me, since I think that’s too long of a gap between hot seats for each member (a lot can happen to one’s business in the space of a few months).

Instead of running my mastermind that way, I decided to structure the calls so that each member will get a (shorter) time on the hot seat on every single call.

Although members can (and will) learn from what happens during the hot seats of others, having dedicated hot seat time on every call will keep all engaged – and I believe lead to getting more from the whole mastermind experience.

A member’s time on the hot seat can be used for whatever they wish: like asking for feedback, getting help with a problem, brainstorming for ideas about their business … whatever they want.

I’m not trying to knock those who run their masterminds other ways (different strokes for different folks), but I feel good about the structure that we’re going with.
