My son showed me a video this week about the power of conformity (from Vsauce’s “Mind Field” series on YouTube)
In it, a group was told they were taking part in an experiment, but were asked to wait in a room until they were called in.
All participants were actors except one, and that person didn’t know that the experiment started right away.
As they sat in the waiting room, the guy running it suggested that they tell some jokes to loosen everyone up.
So he told a joke that made no sense at all and was just a collection of words …
The “joke” (I use that word loosely):
“A giraffe is at the airport going through the TSA line. The TSA agent says:
‘Is this your laptop?’
And the giraffe says ‘I thought you’d never ask'”
The actors were instructed to break out in hysterical laughter after hearing it, to see what the non-actor would do.
And in every single situation the person being set up showed some confusion, but then laughed loudly to go along with everyone else.
Ah, the power of conformity …
It reminds me of the coaching world, with coaches trying to copy what the “gurus” are doing, thinking “if it’s working for them, it’ll work for me!” (without realizing that a good number of those gurus they’re copying aren’t doing well at all …)
That’s why I’m a fan of AJ Rivera – he doesn’t hop on trends and just parrot what others are teaching, he tells you what you need to do and gives a clear roadmap to get results.
That’s why Rahz Slaughter, one of his many satisfied clients, says: “If you’re looking for someone who tells you exactly what you need to hear, not what you want to hear, then AJ is the man you want to be working with.”
This week AJ is offering a select number of “Insane Demand Blueprints” for members of my community. He usually sells these for $997 (or more), but isn’t charging for my people … no joke!
