Someone on Facebook recently questioned the pricing of my Secret Coach Club newsletter, which is $97/month (or $497 for an annual subscription).
She said:
“With all due respect, Marc … $97 each issue? What? I had to check to make sure I wasn’t reading that incorrectly! I don’t know that much about you yet, but no matter how much valuable content is in those newsletters (and I’m sure there is a lot), I find that price extraordinarily high. Can you explain further why they are priced so high? I’m curious now!”
My response:
“$97 is a bargain if it gets you even one client – I should probably be charging more, but I’m not greedy … that price point helps ensure that people take action on what they’re learning (people don’t value what they get for free/cheap)”
I’m not blaming her for her question, by the way. She’s right – in the real world, $97 for a 16 page newsletter (or $41/month for my annual pricing) is “high”. Especially when you can get plenty of 300 page books for $20 at your local bookstore.
My response to her summed up my position, but I’ll pass along my personal experience from buying plenty of 300 page books for 20 bucks and not reading past page 20 …
A lot of business books are filled with fluff and filler (I’d estimate that the majority of content in those books are filler, or repeated points).
I don’t mess around with Secret Coach Club – it has no fluff or filler. It’s stuff you can take ASAP and put into use in your business to turn $97 into thousands of dollars of new business.
For me, that would classify as a “bargain”.
After she made her post, a number of my current Secret Coach Club subscribers chimed in to agree with my position.
If you’re more concerned with how much money something can make you instead of how many pages it is, you’re probably a great fit for it.
