Matthew McConaughey was making about $15 million per movie.
But he said no to future offers …
Why?
Because he was stuck playing the same dimwitted boyfriend role in every romantic comedy.
Hollywood had him typecast, and he knew if he didn’t change it, that’s all he’d ever be.
So he walked away from it all.
For about 20 months, nothing came in except more rom-com offers.
But he held firm.
The result?
Hits like:
Dallas Buyers Club.
True Detective.
Interstellar.
It was called the “McConnaissance.”
A question for you:
What’s YOUR rom-com?
What are you known for that’s keeping you stuck? What identity do you need to unbrand from to become who you’re meant to be?
Maybe you’re the “free content coach” who never charges what you’re worth.
Maybe you’re the “general life coach” who needs to niche down.
Maybe you’re the “I’ll work with anyone” coach who needs to get selective.
Matthew McConaughey went from scoring B’s in five things he was doing, to A’s by cutting out two of his businesses and focusing on what really mattered …
I talk about his book “Greenlights” and four other book recommendations in my latest podcast episode.
