I’ve been getting serious about writing my book lately.
One of the things that’s been helping me write more is carrying a journal around to record any ideas that I have while going about my day.
I might peck a note or two about the book into my iPhone, but there’s something about putting pen to paper that stirs creativity.
Often, I’ll start writing out one idea and that expands into others. What starts as a short one or two lines becomes pages that I want to get into the book.
I’m a believer in the “Priming Effect”, where our subconscious minds are triggered by certain stimuli. In my case, it’s lugging my journal around.
Others, like Alexander the Great used different things to get his desired result. He slept with his dagger and a copy of The Odyssey, so I guess I’m in good company.
I suppose this is why vision boards and pictures of goals that you carry around in your wallet work. By constantly seeing and touching these things, you’re pushed into taking action for them.
I had a Secret Coach Club subscriber tell me that she keeps issues of the newsletter on her desk, to go back to them when she has a few minutes here and there. Seeing them on her desk pushes her to take action.
