Back in the old days, traffic lights were a different colour than the red/yellow/green that we know and love today (I say “love” because without them the roads would look like “Mad Max”)
But it’s not well-known that the colours used to be different back in the day.
Traffic lights were inspired by the railroad industry back in the early 1800’s, when different colour lights were used to tell engineers when to stop or go.
Red was the obvious choice for “stop”, since it had been used to indicate danger for many years.
However, white used to be used for “go”, and green was used for “caution”.
Unfortunately white started causing issues since if a lens fell out of its holder then one of the other colours became white, and people got hurt or died.
So things changed to the current colour set up.
While traffic lights can help keep things running smoothly on our streets, they can also help keep a coaching business on track.
