One of my favourite movies is “The Founder”.
It’s about Ray Kroc, the man who put McDonald’s on the map and turned it into a global fast food empire.
I’ve always been drawn to the story of how a 52 year old milkshake machine salesman achieved incredible success “late” in life (for the record: I don’t think 52 is that old!)
Michael Keaton nailed the role, and it’s a tale of positive thinking and persistence that entrepreneurs need.
But any time I’ve spoken positively about the movie I’ve had some people push back and talk about the evils of capitalism (while sipping their Starbucks and typing away on $1000 iPhones … I’m not sure they get the irony).
Kroc wasn’t a saint, but it’s a mistake to discard all of the lessons to be taken from his life.
