The dangers of flaky people

I hate dealing with flaky people.

They’re like “fingernails on a chalkboard” to me.

They frustrate me and make me feel like pulling the hair out of my head.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of them in the online space.

When I started my coaching business back in 2014, I was surprised by the number of people who did flaky things like being 20 minutes late for a scheduled call (with no reason given) or not show up to the call at all.

Coming from a background in real estate, I was used to being on time for appointments. I knew that if I was late (or didn’t bother to show up), that prospect had hundreds of other agents who would like to have their business.

I showed up five or ten minutes early to every appointment, even on crazy days when I had ten of them back-to-back. And I still show up for calls and appointments early nowadays.

I’m not sure why there’s such a nonchalant attitude held by a lot of coaches online, but I quickly learned that you can waste a lot of time on people who aren’t serious about business.

So I put measures in place to protect myself from the flakes, and over the years this has saved me hundreds of hours (and lots of hairs on my head).
