Les Brown once told a story about Chinese bamboo trees that stuck with me:
“In the far east they have something that’s call the Chinese bamboo tree. The Chinese bamboo tree takes five years to grow. They have to water and fertilize the ground where it is every day, and it doesn’t break through the ground until the fifth year …
But once it breaks through the ground, within five weeks it grows 90 feet tall”
The reason the story resonates is it reminds me of building a successful coaching business.
Despite the gurus’ promises of making a million bucks in one week, it takes time to get rolling (I’m not saying five years, but it’s more than a week).
You do the work and prime the pump by planting the seeds …
You don’t notice anything at first, but then bang! – things start to roll in.
I see some coaches pulling back and relaxing this summer, thinking that they’ll have a good fall to make up for it.
The problem is when they start working again in the fall, it’ll take time to get moving and for their “seeds” to grow.
If you start planting them in September, it could be 2023 before they sprout.
To have a strong end to the year, you’ll want to start this summer – and my Secret Coach Club hard copy newsletter can help with that.
The August issue ships out in a few days, and it’s going to be a good one … get the details and join before Sunday night by going here:
