Today marks the four year anniversary of “Natural Born Coaches”.
Back when I launched the podcast on November 17th, 2014 I thought I was late to the party.
As I was launching, there were plenty of successful shows that had been at it for a long time.
Some that I listened to launched a few years before mine, including John Lee Dumas’ “Entrepreneur On Fire” in 2012.
And others, like my friend Scott Paton, launched his waaaaaay back in 2005.
So yeah, I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t considered that I’d missed the podcasting boat.
There were times that I thought; “”If only I had started my show a few years earlier!”
The funny thing is I now have new podcasters saying to me “Marc, you’re so lucky that you started when you did!” and congratulating me for being ahead of the curve (they act like I’m The Amazing Kreskin for having the foresight to get into podcasting in 2014 …)
The truth is there’s never a perfect time to start anything.
It’s always going to look like someone else beat you to the punch, but if you let that stop you and you wait for the “next big thing”, you’ll never start anything.
I don’t pay too much attention to trying to time things perfectly.
I prefer to just jump in and get started.
As the saying goes; “An entrepreneur is someone who jumps off a cliff and builds a plane on the way down”.
Don’t worry about not knowing what to do – I knew nothing about podcasting in 2014, but I bought a program that John Lee Dumas had for podcasters and I just got started.
I’m thankful that I made the decision to do that.
