A “sacred cow” is something that is supposedly untouchable.
So in politics, sacred cows could be health care or military spending.
Sacred cows exist in business, too.
I’ve had to examine my own sacred cow earlier this year with the frequency of Natural Born Coaches.
For hundreds of episodes, it was a daily show.
I almost fell into the trap that daily podcasters have: getting hung up on the word “Daily” …
But I had a problem. I wanted to put more energy into two things:
1) these emails that you’ve been reading,
2) the growth of The Coaching Jungle Facebook group (www.TheCoachingJungle.com)
So a few months ago, I decided to kill my sacred cow – the “daily” frequency of my podcast – and dropped it down to a 2x per week show (Mondays and Wednesdays)
Guess what?
The sky didn’t fall … The sun rose the next day … and the world kept spinning.
With the free energy I was able to pursue other things that I knew I had to be working on.
I’m having a lot of fun and doing business with emails, and the Facebook group just passed the 2000 member mark earlier this week.
If I kept that darn cow alive, maybe those things wouldn’t have happened.
So my question for you is:
What sacred cows do you need to slay?
