Spoiler alert: I’m a big believer in the power of coaching.
I wouldn’t have done over 400 episodes of Natural Born Coaches if I wasn’t.
But I don’t just talk about the power of coaching … I always have at least one, but often several, coaches helping me with various things in my business.
I recently worked with David Vox (shout-out to David!), who got my head wrapped around the concept of having boundaries to protect my time and my energy for my clients. This is why you guys have been hearing me talk so much about those changes in my business over the last few months, and encouraging you to do the same.
I hired a webinar coach (the awesome Jon Schumacher) to help me improve my whole webinar game. Jon has been a big help on this front, and the new webinars will be live in about a month.
And I just hired Chris Jones, book-writing coach extraordinaire, to keep me on track with the book that I want to get out into the world this fall. I’ve been talking about the darn thing since last summer, so it’s about time I had someone kick my a** to get it done!
I don’t have a life coach – the coaches that I have helping me are focused on specific things (ie: webinars and book-writing), but I definitely believe that coaches can make a huge difference in one’s life, with whatever you need help with.
The truth is I do better when I’m working with coaches. Whenever I’ve gone the “lone wolf” approach in the past, things don’t go as well.
Years ago, I was flying high in the real estate world. Every year, my commissions and revenues were consistently doubling.
Everything was “Coming up Marc” (that’s a Simpsons-reference, for you fans of Millhouse from The Simpsons) and I had coaches approaching me to see if I would work with them …
I thought; “Why would I need a coach? Things are going awesome!”
Then in 2009, I went through a business closure. One that might have been avoided if I was working with a coach who could have kept me on track.
So that’s why I’m such a fan of coaching.
Have a look at what you need help with in your life/business, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.
