HELPING COACHES GET MORE CLIENTS SINCE 2014!

There are no guarantees in business

by | May 27, 2017 | Blog

I’m often asked for my opinion on whether coaches should give guarantees for their coaching.

My two cents:

You shouldn’t.

That may come as a surprise and seem like a controversial opinion, but hear me out.

First, any coaches offering guarantees should be viewed with skepticism. I’ve heard of coaches offering to reimburse clients 2x or 3x their investment if they aren’t happy with the results. But they have a bunch of small print attached to that, so odds are they’ve never had to refund anyone.

But let’s say you hire me as your coach …

I give 100% into the relationship (as I always do).

Then you decide to lay in bed all day, waking up at 2 pm to catch the latest episode of Jerry Springer, and you lounge around after that – not doing anything that we discuss.

(I’m not suggesting that *you* are like this, just using this as an example)

If this is the case, it doesn’t matter what I do – you won’t be successful.

Why should I offer any guarantee on that?

If you put the work in, I’m confident that you’ll get the results. But I can’t control you.

Back in the old days, if a client was only giving it say, 75%, I would pick up the slack and put in 125% to “even it out”. I would sling that client up over my shoulders and carry him/her across the finish line.

Not anymore.

I can’t want it more than you do … you have to be motivated and put the work in.

I go over my whole system about guarantees (and refunds) in the next issue of the Secret Coach Club newsletter – so you’ll know how to handle these sticky things properly. It goes to print in just a few days, get it before it’s gone:
