Since I had a few openings on my Facebook to accept new friends, I went through some pending requests the other night.
Before deciding whether to accept the requests or not, I had a look at each person’s FB wall to see what they were posting.
I found myself drawn to, and accepting, those who put messages out there that were bold and unapologetic.
There’s something appealing about people who refuse to be scared to say what the really think – instead of releasing bland and boring content to avoid any conflict whatsoever.
That prompted me to post the following, which I hope is a call-to-arms for others to resist the urge to “play it safe” and give into online shaming.

“Here’s to those of you who push past fear and hesitation to post your honest opinions on YOUR social media (even in this “Cancel Culture”, and during a time of extreme oversensitivity and political correctness).
Some days it might feel like nobody notices, but you’re inspiring others to do the same.
Some days it might feel like the backlash isn’t worth it, but it is.
Some days it might seem like everyone online is crazy, but they aren’t.
Some days you might want to throw your laptop out the window and go live in a cabin in the woods far away from society, but don’t let your critics silence you.
As James Altucher once said: “I never hit publish unless I’m afraid of what people will think of me”
Keep on truckin’ …”
