HELPING COACHES GET MORE CLIENTS SINCE 2014!

My boring, meat and potatoes (but effective) bullet journal process

by | Mar 29, 2019 | Blog

Although I’ve been journaling for years, I resisted the urge to start a bullet journal.

A bullet journal is different than the usual journal – it’s a productivity tool with its own symbols and hacks, and is described as a “filing cabinet for your brain”

I thought about using one a few years back, but after watching some videos and reading articles about it I held off. Back then I was put off because every bullet journal I saw looked like a work of art. The owners dressed them up with sparkles, impressive sketches, and all sorts of bells and whistles.

They clearly spent a lot of time on them (hey, whatever floats their boat), but I wanted something that would help my productivity and not be featured in an art galley.

I walked away thinking that bullet journaling was kinda stupid, and would cost me more time than it would save me.

But in late 2018 I read a book by the founder of the system, Ryder Carroll, and realized that I could tweak things to create a more “meat and potatoes” bullet journal that worked for me.

I’ve been using it since January 1st, and at the 1/4 mark of the year I’ve seen enough to declare that my bullet journal has been great for my productivity and has me on pace to smash my goals for this year.

For example, I set a goal of being on over 100 podcasts as a guest in 2019 (not an easy thing to do) and I’m well over pace to do it – thanks to my bullet journal.

I use my journal for a bunch of other things, and in the April issue of Secret Coach Club I’m going to be giving a breakdown of the exact way that I’ve been using mine.

My method isn’t pretty, and it won’t be featured on anyone’s Pinterest for design ideas. If you’re looking for fancy unicorns and rainbows it’s not in here …

However, if you’re looking for an easy way to get the benefits of bullet journaling (without losing hours a day dressing one up), it’ll show you how I do it.

The deadline to get it is this Sunday at midnight EST:
