Mission Impossible (Coaching Edition)

I watched the most recent “Mission Impossible” movie on Netflix a few nights ago …

It’s the fifth one, “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation”, for those of you keeping score at home.

It’s filled with the usual silly, over-the-top shenanigans by Tom Cruise just like in the other four MI movies, but it’s still pretty entertaining.

(Warning: leave your common sense at the door – he’s going to be hanging off planes in mid- air and stuff like that!)

What does it have to do with coaching?

Earlier in the week, I saw a discussion with a few newer coaches online, talking about how difficult it is to get a coaching business rolling.

They view it as “Mission Impossible”.

Now I’ll be the first to admit that building a coaching business – or any business – is difficult …

I’ve experienced all the ups and downs:

– Lost revenue from people you thought were going to become clients going MIA (or even worse, finding out they hired someone you know you could have done a better job than!)

– The cost of things being higher than anticipated (seriously, build in an extra 10-20% from what you expect, so you won’t be surprised)

– Unexpected expenses that pop out of nowhere, but HAVE to be paid.

– etc etc etc …
I’ll concede that it is difficult (no walk-in-the-park), but it’s by no means “impossible” …

I’m not anything special, I just found out what works, and did as much of that as I could.

I also got help from others along the way.
