HELPING COACHES GET MORE CLIENTS SINCE 2014!

Marc takes a lesson from Axe

There’s a great scene in the show Billions, where Bobby “Axe” Axelrod has to go out and beg for money.

The billionaire has hit a rough patch in his business, and he has no other option but to visit the Wall Street boardrooms of people that he hates, to do a “dog and pony” show to get some of these people on board with him.

Dressed in a stuffy suit, which is different than his usual attire (jeans and a t-shirt), he drags along books and binders for his canned presentation and grovels like a beggar.

One group after another takes great delight in telling Axe “no”.

Frustrated after another rejection, he stands on the sidewalk and notices a clothing store with some casual clothes in the window.

He rips his tie and blazer off, chucks them in a garbage can, and waltzes into the store.

In the next scene, he storms into a boardroom in his preferred clothes, dishes out his pitch without a filter, and nabs the prize he was looking for.

I know it’s just a tv show, but there’s a lesson in there:

Sometimes you have to forget the industry norms, and just be yourself.

Chances are you’ll do better that way.

I took a lesson from Axe’s book today and revamped the page on my website for my group coaching program.

I previously had a downloadable PDF that looked presentable, but was way too stuffy, with photoshopped images and corporate-type language … it just wasn’t me.

So I rewrote the whole thing – in my own voice and with my sense of humour. It’s my version of my favourite t-shirts and comfy jeans.

Anyways, here’s the page. I won’t beg, but I think you should check out my group program for coaches that starts next month:

Let’s do this.
