I once read a book by Newt Gingrich that talked about how the president has to operate to get things done, but it’s equally applicable to coaches and online entrepreneurs:
He says the the president has to be a lion, and lions can’t hunt chipmunks, because even if they catch them the lions will starve to death.
Lions have to hunt big animals – like antelope – to survive (he used the example of Ronald Reagan focusing on defeating the Soviet Union, growing the US economy, and reviving the American spirit). He writes;
“Every time a chipmunk ran into his office, President Reagan would listen patiently, and then say, ‘Have you met my chief of staff?’ That’s how Jim Baker amassed the largest chipmunk collection in the world”
A lot of coaches are spending their days scurrying after chipmunks: the “freeple” and “cheaple” who don’t want to pay them for their services, or they’re doing little things that aren’t the best use of their time.
What are the antelopes that you should be going after?
