I hate editing podcast episodes and doing all the post-production tasks needed for each one, and here’s a little story about how I achieved freedom from having to do it for Natural Born Coaches.

Back when I started my show in 2014, I thought “Hey, I’ll edit it myself and save some money!”

I figured it wouldn’t take long to do, and how hard could it be?

I think you know where this is going …

I had no idea how many hours of extra work it would be to actually get my episodes out to the world.

One Saturday night in June 2015, as I was bleary-eyed and working my way through yet another long, mind-numbing editing session (with the help of some Red Bull), my brother Matt called.

I took the opportunity to give my eyes a rest and complain to him about how much I hated editing my podcast and how I’d rather get a root canal instead of sitting in front of my laptop screen for even more hours each week.

Lucky for me, he was familiar with using Adobe Audition and looking for a new opportunity at the time. He said “hey, maybe I can help with that that!”

Matt started working on Natural Born Coaches, and then he began helping more people with their podcasts, launching his own podcast service called PodAssist, bringing his editor Amie on the team shortly after (who is amazing and is still a big part of PodAssist).

One of the happiest days of my coaching/podcasting career was when I handed podcast editing duties over to them!

Flash forward six years, and Matt and his full-time team (which now includes his wife Gen too) have edited and published hundreds of my Natural Born Coaches episodes (while listening to a countless number of my lame jokes in the process …). They’ve worked on over 5000 episodes in total during this time (that’s A LOT of deadlines they’ve met), including some podcasts of big names in the online space that you’ve probably listened to at some point.
