Families will be packing into their cars to go on crazy, National Lampoon-style road trips while “Are we there yet?”, “He hit me!”, and “Did not!” will ring through the air.

I used to love family road trips when I was a kid. Back then, we didn’t have iPads or fancy gadgets to amuse us so we read books, talked, and soaked in the views (we also walked barefoot to school, uphill both ways, back in the day).

Since we didn’t have a GPS or smartphone apps to guide us then, we relied on good old-fashioned maps to get to where we were going.

I can’t ever recall us getting lost, but that’s only because we knew what our destination was and we had a map to get us there.
