I’ve spent the last few days telling horror stories from the online space, and here’s another one that Valerie Del Grosso passed along to me:
A coach offering done-for-you services had pulled client agreements and policies from all over the web, trying to cover her bases but also “save money.”
When it came time to fire a terrible client, this came back to bite.
After working for this client for eighteen months and delivering tons of coaching and services, the client retaliated with a chargeback for the most recent charges.
The worst part?
The client won!
Not because the work had not been delivered, but because buried in one of those random agreements, was a vague exception to the “no refunds” policy.
This cost the coach about $6,000 and tons of heartache. She was stuck with sucking it up and moving on, or going to court to get the $6,000 returned to her.
The moral of the story is don’t try to play Dr.Frankenstein and cobble together different body parts (or in this case, policies) from all over the web.
Set your policies up the right way and don’t rely on a hodge podge to do it.
