How tasty is your marshmallow?

One of the coaches in my group program has been doing really well by getting out on podcasts to be interviewed.

She’s got a great personality, is a good talker, and has been getting clients from going onto shows – so it’s working for her.

But I recommended something to her during our group call a few days ago …

When she’s been a guest on podcasts, she doesn’t have a strong CTA (call to action) at the end of those interviews.

Instead of offering something really enticing to listeners, to give them even more value and bring them into her world, she’s been doing no CTA or a weak one (ie: “contact me if you need help”)

And although this has been working (since she’s gotten clients from her interviews), I suggested that she come up with something more compelling to get people to take the next step.

I told her that it’s a lot like this:

Imagine we’re at a bonfire (we Canadians love our bonfires), and I give you a stick with a cold marshmallow that hasn’t been toasted at the end of the stick …

The marshmallow is edible, and some people like them raw, but wouldn’t it be better if it were toasted?

(I’m the type to burn mine to a crisp when at a bonfire, but any toasting is usually better than a raw marshmallow)

Toasting your marshmallow may mean creating a valuable checklist, report or video to give people more value. And if they like it, even more will become clients.
