“Ghosting” is a term that’s usually connected to the dating world.
It’s when one person in a relationship (or a fling) suddenly stops all communication with the other person without notice or explanation.
It’s apparently spread to the corporate world too.
I once read an article that a high number of job applicants are ghosting potential employers in the United Kingdom.
They go through the interview process and the salary negotiations, and then they’re hired … but they go MIA and stop returning calls from their new employer before their first day.
It was happening more often in the US too when the economy was rocking and rolling, although I suspect it’s less frequent since March 2020.
Anyways, ghosting isn’t restricted to the dating and corporate worlds – coaches have to deal with flaky potential clients ghosting them as well.
The prospect gives the “ok” to start working together, but then drops off the face of the earth before the payment is made and first call is scheduled.
It’s a frustrating situation, but it doesn’t have to happen.
In a live webinar that Terri Levine is doing today at 2 pm EST, she’ll be showing how you can get a steady flow of leads (she calls it a “conveyor belt”) coming in.
It’s a way to ghost-proof your coaching business, and you can save your seat for the webinar here:
