The other day I was talking with my brother Matt, and I asked him about the big issues he sees new podcasters getting stuck on.
His response?
They get bogged down with stuff they shouldn’t be wasting much time on, deciding on their:
- Intro and outro music …
- Cover art …
- Show format …
- Release frequency …
- And their podcast’s name!
Matt acknowledged that they should want their shows to be the best they can be, but the most important thing is to take action on the crucial first steps and not waste precious time and energy on stuff that isn’t set in stone.
You’re free to change things with your podcast as time passes – and I speak from experience:
I’ve changed my show’s intro and outro music, its release frequency (from daily to weekly) and a bunch of other stuff …
But those changes didn’t hurt it – my download numbers continue to increase each year, and the pivots helped my show.
Matt’s seen many new podcasters stumble and fail to even get out of the gate, and he doesn’t want that for you.
