HELPING COACHES GET MORE CLIENTS SINCE 2014!

Building a coaching business isn’t always sunshine, lollipops and rainbows

by | Jun 6, 2017 | Blog

Despite the promises of some marketers, there are no magic funnels or formulas that will help you make 7 figures in your first month of coaching, while working just five minutes a day from your hot tub.

(Sometimes I wish there was – that would be fun, right?)

I prefer to tell aspiring coaches the truth when I talk with them about building a coaching business.

It’s HARD work. It’ll take lots of hours (at least in the beginning), and you’ll deal with your share of challenges as you plod along.

Instead of following the lead of the 7-figure funnel dream sellers, I take a page from explorer Ernest Shackleton’s book. Here’s the ad that Shackleton placed in the newspaper when he was looking for men to join his team for his expedition to The Antarctic:

=====

“Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in event of success.”

=====

By putting it all out there, Ernie could be sure that those who replied were tough buggers who wouldn’t cry and want to turn around at the first sign of a snowflake.

Those men knew the risks going in, so they were better prepared mentally when the inevitable challenges hit.

You’d do well to keep that in mind as you continue along in your coaching journey.

Last night I was a guest on Vanessa Talbot’s High Profile Q & A, where I dished out what coaches need to make it in this biz. You can watch the replay here:
