With the popularity of social media, it’s easy to fall into the “comparison trap”.
Jump on your favourite platform and you’ll be bombarded with posts and images that give the impression that everyone is blissfully happy, making loads of money, travelling to exotic beaches, and don’t have a care in the world.
But remember the words of Steve Furtick:
“The reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel”
If you can’t resist the urge to compare, then at least make sure you’re comparing apples to apples.
That means that if you’ve been in business for two years, don’t compare yourself with someone who’s been at it for a decade.
Instead, look at peers who’ve been at it for two years like yourself.
The better approach is to limit your time on social media. Do what you have to do on there and don’t get sucked into mindlessly scrolling your newsfeed and watching the highlight reels of others.
That one change would easily free up 10, 20 or even more hours (for most people) every week.
