HELPING COACHES GET MORE CLIENTS SINCE 2014!

About those “zombie coaches”

by | Apr 23, 2022 | Blog

Although “The Walking Dead” will finally be dead after this (11th) season, a number of spin-offs, including one called “Isle of the Dead”, will be hitting the boob tube.

I used to enjoy TWD and watched it religiously until about five or six years ago, when it became stale and repetitive (and the story started aimlessly wandering around, much like a walker from the show)

I’ll probably check out the new spin-offs, but I’m not holding my breath that they’ll bring back the magic from the first few seasons of the original …

While on the topic of zombies, I once got in trouble for something that I wrote in an ebook of mine, about “zombie coaches”.

Here’s the offending passage:

=====

“A ‘zombie coach’ is a term that I coined for someone that looks like they have a real, live coaching business, but in reality they don’t.

This person has all the things that make it look like they’re a living, breathing business on the outside.

They have a website, maybe a Facebook fan page and a Twitter account, they put out some content and they do the odd discovery call (very rarely).

They tell people they’re a coach, but deep down they feel like a fraud since they don’t have any clients.

One might might; “Wait Marc! I have five clients!” … but if those people are paying you peanuts, or aren’t paying you anything, they’re not clients.

You deserve to be paid what you’re worth as a coach.

Someone took exception to what she read, and said it was rude of me to equate some coaches with the walkers in “The Walking Dead”.

Ok, maybe it was a little harsh. But I stand by my point.

If you don’t have paying clients, you don’t have a business.

Everyone pussyfoots around this, but if more people would shine a light on this then maybe it wouldn’t happen as much.

I hate to see coaches banging their heads against the wall and spending time and energy but not being compensated for it.

So if I have to, I’ll play the role of Sheriff Rick Grimes and do my best to rid the world of zombie coaches by turning them into live ones.

(Fun fact: I was Sheriff Rick for Halloween back in 2014).
