Valerie Del Grosso (“The Friendly Lawyer”) told me a story the other day about a potentially messy copycat situation that a business coach encountered.
The coach sold a program to a copycat client who consumed it, and then started teaching the exact same material to others as if she came up with it.
Before this coach started working with Valerie, she didn’t have anything set up to protect her from unscrupulous copycat clients like this one, and her only option would be to go the expensive copyright lawsuit route to stop it from happening.
But since she was working with Valerie, she had a clear agreement in place that protected her (and saved her a lot of time, money and frustration).
I wish I could say that this is an isolated incident, but I’ve seen it happen far too frequently.
There are lots of online entrepreneurs who are too lazy, or lack the talent. to create anything valuable so they try to shortcut the process and clone the work of others.
We’ve all heard the saying “Imitation is the sincerest of flattery”, but I don’t think you should sit back and be flattered while people rip off your intellectual property and sell it as their own.
Since a vast majority of online entrepreneurs are exposed this way, I’ve asked Valerie to do a live training and share how they can protect themselves.
