Why do you do what you do?
What keeps you going when you feel like quitting?
There’s an old episode of “The Simpsons” where Mr.Burns, the owner of the nuclear power plant where Homer Simpson works, taunts Homer with a picture that says “Don’t Forget You’re Here Forever” …
Homer displayed some rare intelligence and changed it to a collage that read “Do It For Her” – he used his daughter as motivation to keep working away.
I’m not suggesting that you work at a job that you hate – actually, Homer should look for something that excites him (at a beer plant? Donut taster?). But I’m pointing out that you have to use whatever means necessary to motivate yourself.
Money goals are great, and I think very important. But at the end of the day, something with an emotional pull like family, a loved one, or a cause close to your heart will give you incredible motivation.
Anytime you feel your energy lagging, step back and remember what is driving you forward!
