A few days ago, I did a Facebook Live about “client avatars”.
(I wasn’t talking about the funny-looking blue aliens from the James Cameron movie, but the client avatars that coaches are told they need to identify if they hope to be successful …)
Experts recommend that coaches choose an avatar’s gender, age, marital status, occupation, income level, hobbies, interests, goals, desires, and all that jazz … the more details the better!
But a lot of coaches get hung up on choosing that perfect avatar, and get stuck because it feels so restrictive that they can only work with what exact person.
I view avatars differently …
Instead of looking to work with a very (too?) specific type of client, I recommend using avatars to help with your content creation.
As you write your emails, or your social media posts, or record your videos, imagine that you’re talking to that avatar.
Having a specific person you’re talking to will help keep you on track.
But know that the people who hire you could be different than that, and that’s ok.
Take the pressure off and allow yourself to work with people who gravitate towards you, regardless of whether they fit your avatar perfectly or not (assuming they’re a good fit for you, of course).
If you’d like help with this, and my direct support on other things needed to build a successful coaching business, we still have openings in my upcoming “Construct Your Dream Coaching Business” program.
