Last year a guy went a little crazy on Facebook.
I’d never heard of him before, but a few fellow coaches told me to check out his wall and see what he was doing.
He was posting every single hour (sometimes several times an hour) with wild rants about fellow (more well-known) online entrepreneurs.
Each rant got more non-sensical and strange, but he promised there was a method to his madness and he would reveal a grand master plan when it was all done.
I usually try to avoid craning my neck at traffic accidents, and the same goes for online wrecks. I prefer to keep my eyes on the road, but this was all very intriguing …
I couldn’t help but check in and see what he was up (it reminded me of Charlie Sheen’s #winning and “Tiger Blood” thing back in the day)
But after a few days of this, it became clear that there was no plan. The rantings continued, but no one could tell what his business was exactly, and we all lost interest and moved on.
Just one year later, I can’t even remember the guy’s name …
Anyways, he ended up apologizing to his Facebook friends for the whole thing, and that was that.
Unfortunately, he wasted hundreds of hours that could have been spent on actually building his business.
While I’m all for being unique and doing things to stand out from the crowd, there are better ways to do it than impersonating Charlie Sheen.
One way is by choosing a niche for your coaching business that makes you the go-to guy or gal in that space, and instantly eliminates any competition.
