I just finished reading a great book called “The Pledge” by Michael Masterson, where he talks about the “25-25-50 Rule” (which he credits Bob Bly with.)
The rule says that to prevent the dreaded “Paralysis by Analysis”, you should spend:
– 25% of your time studying (reading, listening to audios, attending workshops etc)
– 25% of your time watching what successful people are already doing.
– 50% of your time taking ACTION!
Unsuccessful people don’t stick to this rule. If they do anything, it’s a much higher amount of time studying and very little taking action.
The studying/research phase is a convenient excuse for not taking action.
When I work with coaches, I emphasize *action* … you have to get out there, take some lumps and keep moving forward.
If you take enough action, you’ll eventually find out what works. And that’s when the results come.
If you’re ready to take action with your coaching business, my new program – “Your First 5 Clients” will help guide you. Since it launched last month, it’s been helping coaches get their first (or next) five clients. You can learn more about it here ->
