Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill was the book that got me into personal development way back in high school.
Not to knock it, since it’s still one of my favourites and has helped a lot of entrepreneurs over the last 80 or so years, but I have a problem with the title of it …
Growing rich isn’t just about thinking.
Positive thinking is important, but action trumps thought any day.
Those who buy into the idea that they can create a vision board, chant affirmations, and think their way to success will be disappointed.
You could be the most positive thinker in the world, but without getting out there and making moves it’s going to be in vain.
You can’t just shoot out positive vibes and hope for the best,
Success takes good ole fashioned action.
Day-in, day-out.
I guess Think and Take Action to Grow Rich would be a pretty clunky title, as was the publisher’s original proposed one (Use Your Noodle And Get The Boodle), so I think they made the right choice when naming it.
I still like to keep in mind that it’s not all about thought, but action, when it comes to success.
That’s why my 10 Clients In 90 Days group program puts emphasis on action and not theory.
There are action steps between calls, and accountability in place to make sure you get them done.
If you’re a coach who’s isn’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and do the work for clients, check it out.
