According to a lot of people on YouTube and the Internet, the world is supposed to end today.
I’m hosting a poker game with some guys tonight, which shows how much I believe this apocalyptic 9/23/2017 theory.
But it’s funny, because I’m constantly pushing my clients to get out there and take action – and the line that I often say is: “It’s not the end of the world if it doesn’t work out”
Yet so many people build things up and psych themselves out:
If a prospect doesn’t hire them, it’s the end of the world.
If a person unfriends them on Facebook, it’s the end of the world.
If the girl doesn’t say “yes” to going out with them, it’s the end of the world.
I’ve had plenty of “end of the world” experiences happen to me over the years, but I’ve discovered that the sun always rises the next day, and things end up working out better in the long run.
A few years later, I can’t even remember details about something that seemed so major at the time, since it’s far back in the rear view mirror and I haven’t thought about it.
That event didn’t end my world, after all.
I’m not suggesting that you buy into crazy Internet conspiracy theories about the end of the world, BUT those things can help you take action on things you’ve been holding off on.
If you’re delaying on something that you know you should be doing, remember that you won’t be around forever, and it’s probably not that big a deal to just do it.
I read that the reason Steve Jobs was so driven was he was convinced that he was going to die young. All the great things he did in business came from this urgency, and the world is a better place for it (sure enough, he was just 56 when he died).
The world will end for all of us eventually, so why not get out there and do what we want to do before that happens?
If the world is still around next weekend, the next issue of Secret Coach Club is hitting the printers then.
