HELPING COACHES GET MORE CLIENTS SINCE 2014!

The dangers of coasting

by | Mar 15, 2017 | Blog

Awhile back, I read a book by someone who achieved a lot of success in the personal development space about 10 years ago.

Back then he was a big deal, his name was all over the place.

But when I Google him nowadays, he doesn’t seem to have much going on.

I’m not saying that you can’t find him (you can), but it seems like he hasn’t done much since he hit it big back then.

I was talking with a coach recently, and during the conversation this guy’s name came up.

According to him, he hit the jackpot back then and got a huge head start on everyone else in the space.

And then …

He coasted.

Rested on his laurels.

Didn’t get actively involved in social media.

Thought he didn’t have to put in effort, that his name would bring in the business.

He bought into his own press, and stopped growing.

And he’s suffered with that approach.

If it sounds like I’m knocking the guy, I am.

You can’t take things for granted in business.

I’m not preaching from the soapbox here – I once bought into my own press, and it ended in a spectacular, messy failure.

Now I err on the side of being on offence rather than defence.

I never want to take things for granted.

I’ve got some cool stuff going on with my business now – I’m heading to San Diego next week to speak at Social Media Marketing World, and have said “yes” to some other good opportunities – but I’m never going to take that for granted.

I’ve seen how quickly things can evaporate if you aren’t growing.

With coaching, I want to always be growing.

A few weeks ago, a multiple six-figure coach joined my Secret Coach Club. She’s achieved a lot of success with her coaching, but she wants to ramp it up.

Even though she’s achieved massive success, she knows that you have to keep growing.

If you’re the same way – if you refuse to stay put and want to keep growing your coaching business, this is for you:
