I recently finished reading Stephen A. Smith’s book “Straight Shooter” …
In it he wrote about being too modest when he was playing high school basketball, and how he got cut on the first day of tryouts:
“I was heartbroken. But I also learned a valuable lesson: before getting lost in the shuffle, toot your own horn”
I’ve had clients who have fallen into this trap as well …
I knew that they were getting results and doing great work with their clients since they were updating me during our 1:1 calls, but I never saw them talking about those results publicly!
After digging into why they were hiding their results, most admitted to me that they didn’t want to come across like they were bragging.
You have to toot your own horn, since no one else will do it for you.
