HELPING COACHES GET MORE CLIENTS SINCE 2014!

A lesson from Bobby Axelrod

by | Jan 7, 2023 | Blog

There was a great scene in the show “Billions”, where billionaire Bobby “Axe” Axelrod was put in a position where had to go out and beg for money.

He hit a rough patch in his business, and he had no other option but to visit the Wall Street boardrooms of people that he hates, to do a “dog and pony” show to get some of these people on board with him.

Dressed in a stuffy suit, which was different than his usual attire (jeans and a t-shirt), he dragged along books and binders for his canned presentation and groveled like a beggar.

One group after another took great delight in telling Axe “no”.

Frustrated after another rejection, he stood on the sidewalk and noticed a clothing store with some casual clothes in the window.

He ripped his tie and blazer off, chucked them in a garbage can, and waltzed into the store.

In the next scene, he stormed into a boardroom in his preferred clothes, dished out his pitch without a filter, and nabbed the prize he was looking for.

I know it’s just a TV show, but there’s a lesson in there:

Sometimes you have to forget the industry norms, and just be yourself. Chances are you’ll do better that way.

For coaches, that means they don’t have to send copied-and-pasted spam DMs all day long, or regurgitate templates they bought from some guru for $17.

That’s why I like Pat Henseler and Connect 365’s “Micro Megaphone Method”, which is all about being yourself and building real relationships …

Pat will be sharing more in his masterclass this Thursday, and we’d love to see you there.
