If you’re ever looking for a laugh (or to be disturbed), check out the “creepyPMs” subreddit on Reddit.
It’s a collection of cringe-worthy private messages that people have received online, and it shows that there are some seriously messed-up people out there.
While I haven’t received any “creepy” messages, I’ve gotten plenty of salesy ones that were icky and missed the mark.
And I’ve felt like getting a shower after receiving them.
(If you’ve spent more than a few days in the coaching world, I’m sure you’ve gotten some as well)
The other day I was talking with Brad Newman from Tribe of Buyers, and we both agreed that we aren’t into “sliding into DMs” and sending desperate private messages to get business.
We’d both rather put our messages out to the right people, and get them reaching out to us first …
It’s much more enjoyable to build your business that way.
A lot of coaches play the numbers game and send out hundreds of messages a day. That’s their choice. I’m sure they get some bites, but the percentage is pretty low … and how much fun is that?
