Parenting Coach Susan Berland is committed to guiding parents of gay youth back to a loving, accepting relationship when they are struggling to accept their child as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. She shares how she’s growing her coaching business in a niche that has few coaches in it!
BECOMING A COACH
Susan’s son came out as being gay in 1989. As the years have gone on, she sees many people in the LGBT community who suffer long-term effects from being rejected by their parents. She realized if she could connect with the parents when the child first comes out, she could save the child from years of anguish and self-doubt. She wanted parents to see what their reaction was doing to their child, which would have a much greater impact than just working with the person who came out.
