Alison Smith made the transition from traditional employment to opening her own coaching business, in the Gentle Parenting niche. She shares with the listeners what it was like to make that transition, and how to coach in a relatively new, targeted niche.
BECOMING A COACH
Alison wanted to find a way to create a life where she could be with her kids instead of a 9 to 5 job, which led her to starting her own coaching business.
BIGGEST OBSTACLE
She admits that she is her own biggest obstacle (prone to perfectionism, like a lot of coaches!). She does her best when she gets out of her own way.
GETTING NEW COACHING CLIENTS
Alison gets her new clients from a variety of sources – local ads, a gentle parenting group that she’s in, and from a column that she writes in the newspaper.
