In honour of Kentucky Fried Chicken bringing back Colonel Sanders in a new promotional campaign, I want to share the story of the Colonel, in case you haven’t heard it. I haven’t had KFC in a long time, but I love his story!

Colonel Sanders was 65 years when he got his first (small) social security cheque. He decided to travel all over the country to try to sell his recipe for chicken, but heard rejection after rejection (reportedly over 1000 “no”s!). What would most people do after a much lower number of “no”s, like even 10 or 20? They’d probably quit!

But he carried on, and kept persisting. He eventually got a “yes”, and the rest is history! Kentucky Fried Chicken is the world’s second largest restaurant chain (as measured by sales) after McDonald’s, with almost 20,000 outlets in 118 countries!

If a 65 year old man with no money can pull this off, what can you do?
