I’m rooting for a Tiger Woods comeback.
Last weekend I was one of the people cheering him on, hoping that he’d win at the Valspar Championship.
He came one shot away from winning, and people were going nuts (TV ratings were 190% higher than for the same tournament last year).
I know that a lot of people like to bash Tiger…
They talk about the women, the drugs, the 2017 arrest.
But guess what?
The guy is human.
We all make mistakes – he just had a big spotlight on him when it happened.
Regardless of what he did, he’s the greatest golfer to ever play, and there’s something inspiring about a comeback story.
Maybe I’m drawn to Tiger because his troubles started around the time that I was going through a business closure in 2009. I’m not saying that I had much in common with a superstar golfer, but seeing everyone piling on him at the same time that I was getting kicked around made me pay more attention to his story and root for him.
When you’re in the public spotlight (like Tiger has been for most of his life) it’s easy for people to throw stones.
But most of these people are sitting back in comfortable mediocrity, so afraid of failure that they’ll never try to do anything big in their lives.
I’d rather root for the Tigers of the world – the people doing big things (or making a comeback if they’ve stumbled).
If you’ve been knocked around, don’t give up on your comeback. I’m rooting for you too.
